...and I know who you all are

Who is this character Basil Steven Stuart Archive? How long has the Archive family been interested in steel guitar??? ;)

I notice that only 18% of our members took the time,or felt the need to cast a vote.

It is what it is I'm afraid, and I can only go with the result given. If anyone wants to re-open this at a later date with another poll, feel free!

I apologise if My post appears as a complaint,I agree with the outcome.I was making the point that few members seemed to think it worth voting.
On reflection, If one were to survey the names of the regular posting members I would guess it was a 100% turnout.
No bad feeling intended

That's OK - I didn't take it as a complaint :)

No need to apologise, though....this is your (the member's) forum, not mine.....I'm only here to implement your wishes and keep it running smoothly. There will occasionally be issues such as this which are, in my opinion, best settled democratically and I'll put posts up as they arise, although any member is welcome to do the same and I'll action the outcome :)

Yes. In my limited time as a member I notice that the same old (OOOPS) names keep cropping up. I can't understand why people join if they never bother to contribute. Even Happy Birthday to another member would be something or a thank you on someone else's efforts in writing TAB or posting something they can learn from.
Zumsteel Encore 3+5, Mooer Red Truck, Goodrich Match-Bro, Tech 21 Para Driver, Roland Cube 30x, Guvnor dobro, '89 Fender Squier, '84 Tokai Breezysound Tele, and several accoustic guitars. COPD and bad back!

Roy, I doubt many will respond to your post, thats the way of most on here, what you are noticing is the total apathy of 85% of our so called members. Like yourself I dont know why they join, although it's very noticable that some do purely to sell themselves, items,or a service, cropping up and quickly dissapearing once the site has serviced their needs. I have no problem with that but do wish they would occasionally contribute something of steel guitar interest to other members, something that will keep our site alive.

This issue of member apathy has been raised on quite a few occasions in the past (especially when the site fees are due for payment) on both this and our former site, I myself have been quite vocal, even considered outspoken, now?? I just try to enjoy the posts from the same old members that are passionate enough to bother contributing. An example of member interest- I came accross a track by Sarah Jory a few weeks ago, I hadnt heard or seen it before,so thought it would be of interest (after all she is British) so! I posted up a link, guess what? 80+ views, 2 comments both from regular posting members, one asks oneself 'why bother'

We also have members that post up tracks of themselves playing a tune, ok! might not be groundbreaking steel picking, but what response will they will get!! not a dot of comment, encouragement or thanks for their effort.

Roy I doubt we will change things, 300+ members out of which a few more than a dozen committed passionate soles can be bothered in involving with the site.
Your own involvement over the last few weeks has been noticable, I for one hope you dont get discouraged by the apathy, that would be a pity

We have to treat the site for what it is- a few UK,Irish plus our french mate James C, just steelies chatting amongst themselves.

Apologies to all for raising the same old chestnut, it wouldnt be fair to let Roys post go un-acknowledged, would it?
