Roy, I doubt many will respond to your post, thats the way of most on here, what you are noticing is the total apathy of 85% of our so called members. Like yourself I dont know why they join, although it's very noticable that some do purely to sell themselves, items,or a service, cropping up and quickly dissapearing once the site has serviced their needs. I have no problem with that but do wish they would occasionally contribute something of steel guitar interest to other members, something that will keep our site alive.
This issue of member apathy has been raised on quite a few occasions in the past (especially when the site fees are due for payment) on both this and our former site, I myself have been quite vocal, even considered outspoken, now?? I just try to enjoy the posts from the same old members that are passionate enough to bother contributing. An example of member interest- I came accross a track by Sarah Jory a few weeks ago, I hadnt heard or seen it before,so thought it would be of interest (after all she is British) so! I posted up a link, guess what? 80+ views, 2 comments both from regular posting members, one asks oneself 'why bother'
We also have members that post up tracks of themselves playing a tune, ok! might not be groundbreaking steel picking, but what response will they will get!! not a dot of comment, encouragement or thanks for their effort.
Roy I doubt we will change things, 300+ members out of which a few more than a dozen committed passionate soles can be bothered in involving with the site.
Your own involvement over the last few weeks has been noticable, I for one hope you dont get discouraged by the apathy, that would be a pity
We have to treat the site for what it is- a few UK,Irish plus our french mate James C, just steelies chatting amongst themselves.
Apologies to all for raising the same old chestnut, it wouldnt be fair to let Roys post go un-acknowledged, would it?
Dave
