And what about Doug Jernigan, his speed pickin' and slow stuff are played with so much feeling and precision. Another master of both necks in my opinion.

Well I think I diagree with most on this post. I find it difficult to get excited, with something so toneless, tuneless and I agree boring. Does it really set you all alight, well I know you voiced your opinion Tony abot it. Surely music is for the audience to enjoy...not a showcase for the picker, who's sole interest as far as I could accertain is to outdo other players in the band, and completely loose sight of the melody or the tune they are puported to be playing.
Sorry all you supporters, I would be the first out of the door demanding my money back.

I feel like may post may have been taken out of context. I wasn't really aiming this at Zane, more aiming at a certain type of steel player. Recently I've found myself trawling through the internet trying to find some good steel music for some inspiration and much to my dismay 90% of what i find is so cheesy i cant even get through 30 seconds of it. I just hate those bloody midi backing tracks! The steel is such a beautiful instrument why can't it just be played acapella like an acoustic guitar or a piano?

I thought acapella was to do with hair loss - something of which I am an expert.

Great stuff Slim, proves a point though, 'tone is in the hands' it might be my ears but I can't tell much difference between any of the steels he uses in those clips.
I will duck down now   .
