And what about Doug Jernigan, his speed pickin' and slow stuff are played with so much feeling and precision. Another master of both necks in my opinion.
Agree with you on that one Dave, very nice humble guy to speak to as well.

Well I think I diagree with most on this post. I find it difficult to get excited, with something so toneless, tuneless and I agree boring. Does it really set you all alight, well I know you voiced your opinion Tony abot it. Surely music is for the audience to enjoy...not a showcase for the picker, who's sole interest as far as I could accertain is to outdo other players in the band, and completely loose sight of the melody or the tune they are puported to be playing. Sorry all you supporters, I would be the first out of the door demanding my money back.
I feel like may post may have been taken out of context. I wasn't really aiming this at Zane, more aiming at a certain type of steel player. Recently I've found myself trawling through the internet trying to find some good steel music for some inspiration and much to my dismay 90% of what i find is so cheesy i cant even get through 30 seconds of it. I just hate those bloody midi backing tracks! The steel is such a beautiful instrument why can't it just be played acapella like an acoustic guitar or a piano?

Great stuff Slim, proves a point though, 'tone is in the hands' it might be my ears but I can't tell much difference between any of the steels he uses in those clips. I will duck down now .
