Set you steel up for what feels comfortable to you......

You haven't got to be an engineer to work it out..

Call it what you like, but if it feels good to you, keep it...

Setting your steel up like PF, LG, BE, isn't going to make you play like them or sound like them either....

I remember changing things around all the time in the past, and left it to what feels comfortable to me..

Then start listening to yourself and see if everything sounds smooth and comfortable...then start learning your stuff and enjoy it...

It's took months getting the shobud pro 1 comfortably set up, and the Copedant is set up how i like it.

It's very important to feel like you are "driving the car" without thinking about where the controls are........

I can honestly say, that the shobud pro 1 I have now is the best sounding, and best setup steel I have ever owned..

The Rains is the perfect guitar for direct recording and the shobud is, without a shadow of a doubt, the gigging guitar, it's sounds perfect, it's lighter, and it's set up 100% comfortable for me..

Its the LH set up... The "LIVE HARTLEY" steel...

Yip! Also agree with DH... setting it up exactly as you feel comfortable with it seem like a plan!

Though I play ABC now .. CBA with the raises going right is undoubtedly the natural progression I guess the only issue is for those looking for instruction and having to convert what they are seeing and hearing to their own setup.

Having umpteen PSGs of all setups from guys in recent times I have had to learn to jump between them and you can there is no doubt but if you are playing at any speed your knee goes to your own setup ‘not always handy’!

Happened to me playing with Margo's band. I had sold my Sho Bud and bought an Emmons S10 (sight unseen) from a guy in Dublin. My mate picked it up for me and delivered it to the gig just in time to plug it in and check tuning. Everything back to front and tuned down to D9th. Boy that was a fun gig.

Yeah Bob and Roy, that's what I was getting at (didn't mean to start WW3) . It's a question of whether you can switch between ABC/CBA easily enough to warrant NOT changing the copedent on a "new" s/h guitar. Now I've got one of each I find switching to CBA not so difficult although I guess that in a jam it may not be so certain! The main bother at the moment is trying to get the knee levers on a ZB placed so you can actually use them!

I got an 11/10 some moths back form Mickey Breach, he had Ronnie Bennett put in a modern undercarriage but he was still finding tuning difficult so I whipped out all the turnbuckles put straight sleeved rods in and bushed them at the bellcrank (as per the pics) giving hex tunability there, so fine tuning could effectively be done between the pedal or lever stop, the end plate and the bellcrank, if that sounds over complicated it’s not you have those options on any all pull. The degree of accurate tuning and stability now is dead on as of course is the tone! It was originally Frank’s guitar and Mickey has it waiting in the wings for his return. So if he doesn’t get his finger out when he comes back and give it some serious playing I’m going to down there and brain him with it! It’s a beaut!

Assuming that the ZB still has its original changer (with the tuning done at the endplate) I don't see the need for all that extra work, Bob
