When practising do YOU use Your amp ?
One very accomplished steel playing friend of mine says He had been told many years ago by a "big timer" that practising without the amp will help to acheive a better tone from Your playing ?
I also read some time ago on the U.S.Forum. Ricky Davis saying that He never uses reverb at home.
Finally.. Perhaps You play along with a recording of some of the famous players trying to catch their licks and phrasing, when doing this do You change Your amp settings in order to try to replicate the tone of the recorded player?
I practise about 50/50 With and without amp and I use delay and reverb at home.I have found that if I play too many practise sessions without the amp my blocking suffers.I never was great at blocking but it definately gets better when I use the amp.
What do Y'All say?
Best regards
Billy
