Absolutely stunning intro...those open strings...wow! Then descends into clunky, ploddy and mechanical rendition of an over-exposed classic...Pity. He is truly one of the greatest players alive, but still throws so much away with unimaginative BIAB quality productions. I don't get it.

I think someone may have and ear problem. The quality and imagination of playing is what some of us can only dream of..

I thought that might get a reaction. A predictable one sadly. I think I mentioned he was one of the greatest players alive today...Maybe you didn't read that. Well that's a problem in itself, maybe an eye problem

Deary me!!

Sorry to hear that Roy (about the eyes that is) I have eye problems too...but not ear problems as suggested by Barry. That is is getting a little too personal in my view and has no place on a forum where different views (as long as they are not abusive) should be exchanged. Incidentally, I use my fully-functioning ears primarily for listening to MUSIC. In my personal view, too many people on this forum only listen to the steel guitar (often played very well) but not the musical production as a whole, which to my ears (them again) is often uninspiring, often plodding and uncreative, and actually detracts from the steel playing. As an aside, someone posted on the US forum recently that they would like to know where I got my backing tracks from. I contacted the guy and explained that they are not backing tracks they are simply other tracks in and overall creation put together by myself over many hours of work to achieve and overall piece where the steel is one important component. Anyway, I sent him some of these tracks with my steel taken off and he's well happy. Now I thought that was a nice way to use the forum. Much better that knee jerk reactions to someone who doesn't toe the party line...and there is one whatever anyone says, I've been on the BSS long enough to know that at least. Probably not for much longer once others weigh in. I'll hold my breath and count to ten now. G
