No it not confusing
..I did a little research in to the pot as at that time ,I couldent get on to British steelies my pasword wouldent work
that is why I put the post on for strings/pots
Yes the pot I had from John Davis and the strings, as far as I know it is wired correctly .. I did change the wire around to see if it was on wrong
but it made the pedal run backwards it worked when it should be off...I checked the string ..and it seems the pot goes all the way round and Im sure the the wiper is on the centre leg
But I will check it again..but it seems quiet untill the pedal is half way round and then you can hear it come in..and I carnt remember if it always been like that
Ive looked on Greg Cutshaw pot replacement Ive ordered an other dunlop 500k and try it incase the one I got if fulty
I have has the guitar for more years than I like to remember because it sounds horrible I give it up for a while and them go back to it
I made a mistake on my my post it was not a amp I bought it was a mixer and that what I had problums getting to work with the guitar and computer backing track's
to work on the head phones ( my my wife nabours wouldent hear it )

I agree with all Jiff has said above, sounds as though the pot is wired wrong or the string has slipped so you are not getting full rotation of the pot.

I also prefer to use any pedals after the volume pedal. I like delay and reverb to be right at the end of the signal chain so Id put them in the fx loop of the amp if it has one.
The exception to this would be a buffer as mentioned earlier or certain pedals like fuzz that can sound completely different if they're not first in the signal chain. Not sure there's much demand for fuzz on a psg though!

Like Jiff, I can't justify the price of a specialist buffer considering it's such a simple circuit. I have just built a clone of the Goodrich matchbox with a bypass switch so you can hear instantly what effect it has. I love it and wouldn't hesitate in buying a real one if I didn't have the skills to build my own.

Another good experiment would be to use a boss pedal between the guitar and volume. To the best of my knowledge, all boss pedals use a buffered bypass rather than true bypass and have a 1meg input impedance so you should be able to hear a difference even with the pedal turned off.

I dont think my amp has fx loop im trying to listeren through the earphone

would it matter that te cables are studio cables ???
you said about the buffer and in one of the posts that boss effects has a buffer build in

as I have said ALL the there pedals are new to me and up till now I no nothing about sound waves ( if thats what you call them ) Im trying to learn

I wouldn't worry about any of that yet Paul, It sounds as though you have bigger problems. I would suggest removing all the pedals and plug the steel directly into the amp or mixer you are using and try to get a good sound like that before adding any pedals.
