Image rotation

Postby blueherring » Fri Jul 10, 2026 5:08 pm

Ok, this will have been covered a million times but I can't find the answer.
Why, when I upload a JPG is it in the wrong orientation however I rotate it before uploading it?
Frustrating. Grateful for any tips

This happens because your device's photo viewer only "pretends" to rotate the image by changing a hidden tag (EXIF data).

When you upload the file, the server reads the original raw image instead of the tag, which results in the wrong orientation.

Easiest workaround is to, as well as rotation, make a minor edit (like crop a tiny part off), then the image should be re-written correctly before uploading.
