Mitchell has the ToneX which he had Joe set up for him in Dallas, don’t know if he had used it live yet. Was hoping he would have been over to stay with us after Dublin in Oct, but he had to cancel I as Cheryl has been quite ill. Met Joe at Dallas a few times awesome player ,Pity you did not get to see Mike absolutely amazing player, and one of the nicest guys you could meet. Hope all is good with you. :guitar:

Mitchell is a really nice guy, a great builder and a great steel player, I got on really well with him in Dallas. He gave me the MSA tour which I thoroughly emjoyed. I think as well as doing the rodding in my MSA, it is likely that he did the rodding in my Carter. Joe seems like a very interesting person, I have only heard his playing in a few YouTube videos, very impressive. I have been doing quite a bit of correspondence with him at the end of last year, he is totally dedicated to getting the Tonex captures as good as he can. I bought a lot of different captures and IRs from him, obviously there is a lot of variety there, ATM I'm liking the Fender captures the best, but it's taking a while to get through them. Which IRs you use make a big difference in the resultant tones and there are a lot of these for multiple speakers with multiple mics pointing at the different areas in the speakers, so homing in on what works best is a task and a half. However, I have found a few combinations that really work for me so far, without too much fiddling.

A year ago I bought a Fractal FM3T unit, which is amazingly good, the only problem was dialling in tones for PS, these units are primarily directed at guitar players, usually of the Heavy Metal variety. I have created some patches that I was pleased with, when Joe's captures came to my attention, I thought I would give them a shot. I bought the Tonex One, which can pretty much do what the full Tonex Unit can do at about half the price. The only difference I found which I didn't like was the SE edition of the software. It did do everything I needed, but the Librarian functions were very limited and messy. So I took the chance of upgrading to Tonex Max on a Black Friday deal and it's much better organised that the Lite version.

The way I have it set up is using the Tonex only for the amp captures, I am loading the IR's into the FM3, which is way more versatile than the Tonex options. I have the Tonex hooked into the effects loop in the FM3. Joe actually recommends using a 3rd party IR unit as the Tonex is a bit limited. I also use the effects in the FM3 which are pretty much the best you can get ATM.

Anyway, I am looking to put together a video demoing some of his captures etc, could take a while though.

Health has not been great over the past few months, Winter is not kind to me these days. Just got to get through it until Spring when things get better. However, so far I am still in remission, so I am thankful for that.

Muchos Gracious Roy. When I listen back to it now, I still have difficulty believing that it is me playing, (until I hear the boo boos  ). Very satisfying though to have got through it all. Hope you are keeping well.
