Alternative to George L strings

Postby Stoney » Tue Apr 08, 2025 11:57 am

I have used George L strings on my sho-bud pro 1 for many years and never had a string break, but am now down to my last set (I purchased a few sets from Gerry Hogan before he sadly closed his online shop). Does anyone know if these are still available in the uk or suggest an alternative make which are equally’unbreakable’ on a sho-bud
Thanks
Paul

Paul, according to the US steel guitar forum, George L sold the entire range of steel guitar accessories, including strings to Show-Pro in 2013. As an alternative, try Strings Direct. Hope this helps. Thanks Bill Gauld.

I only keep the Buddy Emmons S.I.T. signature series as I figure if they were good enough for Emmons.......
If you had your last set "many years" i suggest you sling'em. Mine are fresh from the factory in Akron Ohio usa...

Thanks John for your reply.
Open question: is anyone else using SIT strings on a sho-bud and if so how do you find them for tone and longevity?
Cheers

Hi Paul I use SIT strings on my homemade Uni. Great tone and haven't had one break. I change my strings about once a year. I get them from JD Dave :D
