Complete Novice! Purchasing Advice/Lessons in London

Hello all, my names John, my first post here in the British Steelies Society! Thanks for having me.

As the subject says, I'm a complete novice to pedalsteel. I've been playing regular 6 string guitar for the past 15 years, mostly for fun but also professionally occasionally. Over the past year I've been wanting to learn Pedal Steel but haven't had time to put some feelers out really, up till now!

The purpose of this post is twofold

1. Purchasing Advice
Being a newbie I'm open to advice on buying a pedal steel. I'm currently thinking about GFI S10SM+ Student 3×4 Model Single Neck 10-string Pedal Steel Guitar with 3 Pedals. Seems reasonable price for a new instrument. Also open to suggestions and buying used.

2. Lessons
Looking for a tutor to set me on my way to start with and learn good playing technique. I'm based in South London but could come anywhere within the general London area.

I'm sure this kind of post has been done before, so sorry if I'm banging the same old drum again.

Hello John welcome aboard, Be glad to help you anyway I can. I am about 50 Miles North of London I've always got some steel guitars set up here at least 1 or 2 and you're welcome to come and have a play and get some ideas I would say a secondhand pro model is a better bet than a student model[ And quite possibly cheaper Either way a little help at this stage for you is well worth having
