Newbie question about a first lap steel!

First off, I'm new here... so, hello all!

Secondly, I'm new to lap steels. I've been playing slide along with standard guitar for years but finally decided to dip my toe in the lap steel water properly.
I've done quite a bit of research about the various lower end lap steels out there and had decided to get one of the Recording Kings. It's my birthday next week so I had one on preorder with Andertons which has now been estimated for the end of January! And there don't appear to be any more of the Recording Kings out there without a good 3 months or so waiting time.

So, my options are:
A Harley Benton Slider II, which is ridiculously cheap and I've read mixed reports about. Mainly that I'm going to need to ditch the electrics pretty soon after getting it.
A used Clearwater Weissenborn style at a good price (under £100). I can't really find out much about this brand apart from (once again) some mixed reports.
A used Jagard at about £130. Which looks exactly the same as the Harley Benton - so I'm presuming this has come out of the same Chinese factory and been branded differently (as there are several others out there that look the same). This is more expensive than the Harley Benton, but it has been upgraded with a Seymour Duncan single coil (not sure which type).

The final option is to just hold out for a Recording King when they appear back in the country.

So, in a round about way, I think the main question I have is are any of the cheaper options truly worth it? Or is it best to hold out for the RK?
I don't mind updating electronics in any guitar at some point, but at the same time I don't want to purchase a complete dog that needs upgrading straight out of the box.
Usually I wouldn't be so impatient but I did quite fancy one for my birthday!

Thanks!
