UPDATE ON SHO~BUD FINGERTIP.

Postby Ken Byng » Fri Jun 10, 2022 10:54 am

Just a few weeks ago, I put a few pictures up on this site of an elderly Sho~Bud Fingertip D10 that was being sold by an old fellow from Portsmouth. Unfortunately it had been stashed away in his loft for a good many years, and the seasonal heat and cold temperatures did the guitar not a lot of good. Anyway, the guitar was bought by Ryan Turner from Ireland, who has got the guitar fully assembled and playing now. He has plans now to strip it back, putting a waterslide logo on the front, re-finish the body and re-lacquer it and polish all of the metal parts. Anyway, here he is playing the guitar before all of the refurb work commences.

Ken, could you share any info about that black knob/dial that's on the end of the guitar? I've never seen anything like that before.
It's sounding excellent. What a find.

TBH Danny, I am not really sure. Logically I would say it's some kind of tone control. ;)

Ryan is one happy guy with that guitar, which has a lot of potential post refurbishment. It could look as new if done properly.

Mr Byng, when it was sold, did it come with a couple of weight lifter blokes to carry it for you? asking for a friend.

Dear Mr Gamble
Please tell your friend that while the guitar is not lightweight, it weighs probably abought the same as my Emmons push pull. My push pull resides in Hatton lightweight wheeled split cases when I gig with it. The Sho~Bud Fingertip guitar's weight was the driving force behind Lloyd G taking the C6 neck and rods off his Fingertip guitar when he was travelling from studio to studio in the 60's.
