Ted you put me to shame for your brill. Account of the days events, very remiss of me not to mention Olly's skill in the cooking department, that for me was a major part of the goings on, cannot understand why our MC is not as fat as me.
I can still claim the credit for talking you into coming and that i do! What else could you have done to compare with that day ???

I agree wholeheartedly with all the aforementioned, it was a great day and Bob and Olly excelled themselves, but then again, that's the welcome I receive any time I visit. Poor old John, he was tormented all day long, having to play Emmons set up guitars. Anyhow things were put to rights at the SSGW meet, my very good friend Billy Mckillop brought over a Day set up Rains and an amp for John to play. Both Ted and John, being well seasoned in the black art of steel playing, jumped in and played with no hesitation whatsoever. It truly was a great day, wonderful to get back to meet the guys again. When it was over we drove back down to Glasgow Airport, dropped Ted off at his hotel, headed for Bishopton and deposited Hunners Holland at his abode, portered his gear into the house for him then drove home to nail my shattered body to the bed.
Just to recap, Great Day, Great Company, Great Food, Great Fun, here's to the next time.

Guys, sounds like you had a really special night, great first night back. Sad of course about Reg, I know he will be sorely missed.

Thanks for thinking of me and supporting my current troubles, but I'll be back, this thing is not going to beat me, it may take the best part of a year but with luck I'll achieve remission and my bones will eventually heal.

I also take heart from what Davie has been through and overcome, truly inspiring.

The funny thing is I've lost 3 inches in height due to 3 of my vertebrae compressing, so I'm now 5ft 4in, so Willie you'll not be the only short arse in town

I would like to affirm what has already been said wholeheartedly (Big Word) . I thought my steel playing days were over but only for about 10 seconds after I woke from the surgery that removed my right leg. It felt surreal to look down and see no foot, ankle or lower leg. Thankfully the wound healed within a few weeks, and with physio, I managed to become the next prosthetic candidate. Sorry to recap but sometimes it helps me remember what I will try to block out for the rest of my life.
If it was not for the absolute genius of Bob Adams, I may have given up totally. Bob manufactured me a !playing leg! with many trips to my house to measure up, loosen, tighten. elongate, shorten, and take endless notes. Finally turning up one day with Mary Poppins bag of goodies. Bob I am forever in your debt.
Willie Gamble has been my rock throughout the whole time, and without him, I would definitely have fallen by the wayside. On my bad days I was met by "Not on my watch" and I was so scared to be feeling "woe is me" that my down days receded very quickly indeed, and in him I have found a true friend.
Little did I know that when he arrived at my house to pick me up to go to Gartcosh, that a little leprechaun would jump out of his car to greet me. It was great to see Ted again after so long and it also made me that little bit more nervous and gave me the feeling that I should maybe have listened to the track I was going to play just that little bit longer.
On to the hall and there was John Davis large as life too. I`m sure there is a Scotsman hiding in there just waiting to emerge, as John loves our banter, wit (and good looks).
Everyone who attended the night sounded great, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself being back.
I also think poor Donny had a bit of a task trying to bring order to so many people itching to play, get heard, and join in with tracks after so long.

so in short It Was Great to be Back! and thank you to all

PS Geoff, you can do this. We will all be there when you return, and if there is anything I can do for you in the meantime, just ask mate.

Sounds like a fantastic event. Well done all, and a special shout out to Davie and Geoff for their health issues, and Bob Adams and Willie Gamble for their exemplary support of those two guys. The Scots have always showed the rest of the UK how steel guitar meets should work.

Thank you so much guys, it's at times like this that you realise what is really important in your life and that is family and friends. I can't put into words how much the support I've had has moved me, as you said Davie it lifts you up through the dark days. My wife has just received a huge bunch of flowers from two of her friends. Janice has been my treasure throughout this time, it's been really hard on her, she is having to do everything for me including driving me to all my hospital appointments.

The care I've had from the NHS staff has been extraordinary, what a treasure we have there. I go in to get a pin put into the humerus bone in my left arm on Oct 14th, will be glad to get it over with, they are continuing with my chemo at the same time, so it is going to be a difficult couple of weeks. The good thing is I'm beginning to feel a bit better, the pain is reducing and I have a lot more energy now, I think the chemo is starting to do it's job.

Still can't play anything, though I'm looking to buy one of these guitar stands that holds the guitar so you can play it without supporting the weight. Will be a while before I can play steel again but if I can get playing guitar again it would certainly lift the spirits.
