We should have a section called "What's The Beef!"

Postby JohnDavisStringsHere » Fri May 28, 2021 6:56 pm

Unusual in our steel community guy asked if I could make a part for his Steel so I say yes and he sends me the broken part, as it was only a rod puller I made it from steel instead of aluminium thinking it will last longer and sent it back the same day that I received it along with the original part, there was no charge involved and it did not take long to make and I stood the postage............ since then deathly silence??? did it not fit? did he not like it? Maybe it lowered the tone of his guitar I really don't know but a simple thank you would have been nice if he received it.

I feel your pain John, this has happened to me on many occasions and because of this I keep saying, " right, that's it, I am doing no more" but I keep falling into the same trap, time and time again. It's the way we are John, eager to help and to promote this damned instrument.
That's just the way we are wired I'm afraid JD, but good manners cost nothing.
I hope you coping, and keeping well.

John, Willie and Tony, don't let the 'users' change you!

I came to this instrument (and community) late. After being involved in music, and interacting with musicians, for most of my adult life. And without any shred of doubt, the steel community is by far the most welcoming, helpful, generous spirited, collective I've ever encountered. You three gents being shining examples.
And long may you continue :guitar:

Couldn’t agree more, the three gentlemen mentioned jump in almost immediately when a technical query pops up. And usually get to a successful result. There are years of experience in those heads and they’re more than willing to impart their knowledge. This is without doubt a great Forum for Steelies.
Keith.

BUT
Danny
Long may YOU continue as!

:guitar: Out of modesty on your part you forgot to add your name to the list, you were probably to busy editing CD’s and mixing tracks that society members had played on, to make a CD, then again it could just be absent mindedness on your part! :guitar:
PS
Polly put the kettle on and give up the “ Lanniee “
No longer slummin, I’ve got a Mullen and a damn good amp as well,
they’ll be well played, if not played well, seat time alone must tell!

That's nice of you to say so, Robert, but to quote Manuel in Fawlty Towers, "I know nootheeeng!" when it comes to the workings of these fabulous beasts, and can offer no insight.

Whereas, you belong in that knowledgeable, helpful group yourself, I've seen your handiwork.

And as for the libation, I would paraphrase the late Charlton Heston and say, "you'll have to prise the 'glass' from my cold dead hand".
Cheers!

Its 'human nature' I'm afraid, it doesnt seem to take much for someone to take offence at an innocent remark, or stop talking to you for some unknown reason. We just have to accept it and move on. :)

It takes seconds to say thank you and please but there is where the younger generation seems to not understand.

There's an Irish saying that fits the bill perfectly. "Eaten bread is soon forgotten"
