Dave Nutt

Postby Ken Byng » Thu Dec 17, 2020 3:32 pm

I have just received some devastatingly sad news from UK steel guitar stalwart Dave Nutt. I'm sure he won't mind me making everyone on here aware of his situation, so here is the note that he sent me earlier today. Please keep Dave and Pauline in your prayers. I'd like to ask that out of respect and under the circumstances, can potential buyers refrain from lowballing Dave with inappropriately low offers for his Sheffield guitar. Sensible offers only please. Thanks so much - it's a wonderful and a quality instrument.

Ken
Love the idea for joint effort from you boys, I will look forward to hearing the final cuts.
Would love to have participated but sadly health prevents.
Had bad news last week, cancer has returned and is now terminal (a couple of months at most) lung, liver and bowl. Not bad for a mountain climbing, jogger who has never smoked in his life.
Anyway, good luck with the project.
Going to need to sell the Sheffield so if you hear of anyone let me know.

Have a great Christmas.
Dave.

I have a lot of time for Dave and Pauline. This is news I never wanted to hear! We were just talking about them both this afternoon.
I've messaged Pauline this evening and hope to be able to talk to them both when they are able. If ever there was a man with spirit
it is DN ..

I am very saddened to hear of Dave's situation.
We corresponded several times over the years and I quickly realised what a genuine nice guy He is,He also has a very good sense of humour.
My best wishes and prayers go to Dave and Pauline at this very hard time

I'm so sorry to hear this, I don't know how I would cope in that situation. Dave, I have said on here before I'm not a religious person, but, I know that you have said a prayer for my Barbara, I can assure you I will say one for you. Donny.

Had a call from Dave this afternoon. A joy to hear his voice!

What an inspiration this man is, I am humbled by his whole approach to what is a devastating time for him and Pauline, as ever; he talks at break neck speed in his native Birmingham accent and at times I struggle to catch it all, as for getting a word in! no chance! He has been through the mill in recent times yet he remains so upbeat I am blown away by his positive attitude.

Brother Gamble called me this afternoon seriously vexed about Reg after a call from him as 'He and Dave's results run hand in hand, in fact 'book end' diagnosis!

You have no idea how much I wish we could turn back the clock.

For those of us who have a faith this is a real test, I say that with serious conviction.

Willie asked earlier, have I seen Dave at any of the meetings, I said I don't think so.

So here is a much treasured pic, that was a strong and rich handshake, what a star this man is!!!

Bob

Awful news. Dave has been a friend for more years than I can remember and that dreaded C shows no mercy. Thinking and praying for you brother x
