Just listened again to this, and it crossed my mind regarding how many people, outside of the usual Country Music fans, must've been exposed, unknowingly, to the steel guitar thinking it was Stevie Wonder playing synth, perhaps. It's a great well thought out part.

Nice one Danny, I'm a big fan of Stevie Wonder generally and listened to this album a lot when it came out, but you know I completely missed that this track featured pedal steel. Perhaps because it's dressed in a lot of reverb, it kind of melts into the background, beautiful playing though as you would expect from Sneaky Pete.

Sneaky Pete seemed to be the go to pedal steel player at that time for non-country music, he crops up in all sorts of different genres. The go to at the moment for other genres with pedal steel seems to be Greg Leisz, who is a fine player imho, I'll stick up a track that myself and a few friends are working on at the moment which features him playing steel.
