Must be on Whacky Backy

Postby mick hearn » Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:20 am

Has anyone seen the Jedson lap steel for sale on Ebay? Either the seller is a complete nutter or has been on the whacky backy. Either that or he has the decimal point in the wrong place. The fact that Dave Gilmore used one has nothing to do with the fact that it is just a cheap lap steel.

Jedson lap steels have been up for sale on Ebay many a time. Now to make some money - buy one. Then buy the conversion plate (around 20 quid) and fit an EMG pickup and preamp. Then with the right blurb and mention of Dave Gilmore, think of a figure with three zeroes at the end and try to sell it. If successful then lots of lovely profit. Oh yes - don't forget to stress the pickup plate a bit.

On a serious note I don't know if this is a con or not - the seller is certainly serious and there must be a mug out there willing to pay silly money for it. I have one here if they are desperate. It would be interesting to see if it sells.

Any thoughts folks?

I think the sellers of these guitars with the EMG conversion expect a huge price because Gilmour played one. It's a hell of a price to pay if you only wish to play a couple of Pink Floyd numbers.
Also it will be interesting to see what price it actually achieves!
