First lap steel (£200-300) trade?

Postby tvas22 » Sun Jun 16, 2019 3:37 pm

Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure whether or not to post in wanted or 'for sale', but as I 'want' a lap steel, I thought I'd put it here first.

I have wanted to take up lap steel for a little while, and I have decided to sell my Epiphone Casino Coupe to raise the capital to try and pick one up in the £200-300 range.

I am advertising this for sale in a few places, but I've also been seeing if any guitarists had bought one on a whim and didn't take to it and maybe fancied a trade.

However, I thought perhaps there are 'steelies' looking to sell their first lap steel to buy a guitar too?

If anyone near Sheffield or driving has a lap steel in this price range and fancy trading for this guitar, let me know.

Here is the description of the guitar from my ad:

"It's a bit of an oddball - finish has been buffed out to a satin look, which I think looks pretty nice but is absolutely not perfect. There is damage to the finish on the headstock where the poly had bonded to the original tuners, see pic. Has a fake varitone switch that has two bass cut, one band-pass, and two treble cut positions, volume for each pickup, and a master tone control. Has a parallel/series switch for the bridge pickup installed on a bracket in the f-hole (just goes on the pot, so easily removed, not glued in etc). I would really like to trade, but if nothing comes up and someone wants to buy I will only meet in person.

Pickups are from the Creamery - neck is their Casino '61, bridge is the Baby '71 Wide Range Humbucker. It has a lightly relic'd Gotoh ABR-1 bridge to match the Bigsby, Kluson Revolution tuners, and a vintage Selmer (UK made) Bigsby from the mid 1960s, with reverend soft-touch spring. This has been screwed in to the top. Has a String Butler and a Graph-tech nut."

Hi everyone - this is now sold.

I managed to pick up a 1951 Supro too, so I’m really looking forward to learning!
