Hi again!

Postby Fran_Cedres » Sun Apr 21, 2019 12:05 pm

Although this is not the first time I am here, I am glad I can post again.
I am Fran Cedrés, from the Canary Islands, I play the guitar, banjo and ukelele. I'll be pretty soon a retired individual so I bought a custom pedal steel from John Davis.
I'll see if I can manage it :D
Cheers

Have I told you, Mr Davis, that Mrs Agatha Christie and Sir Winston Churchill used to come to Gran Canaria on holidays? I don't know why, maybe it is because in this moment we have 24 ºC degrees... or our malvasía wine that seduced William Shakespeare...
Anyway thanks your your kind help.

Thanks Mr Heal for your kind welcome. My pedal steel is sailing to its new home right now so I have to wait a couple of days yet.
"Sailing". You see? Now I have to go to my old pickup and listen to that Rod Stewart's old song :D
Have a nice day

"I been one poor correspondent..." (America, Sister golden hair)
Hi, here I am again. The pedal I bought from John Davis sounds really well, but the hardware under it... mmm :? :? ... well, I am renewing it, it's a hard (not really) work to do, but i can handle it. I have moved the A knee lever to B and I have bought some parts at pgsparts.com to see if I can reburbish the A knee lever with Hex cross shafts, brackets and bellcranks. I am also changing the pull rods to 3mm ones so I can find the replacements in milimeters, not inches.
I am writing this under a heatwave, it is bl**dy hot here today.
Cheers!!

Fran it is brave of you to jump in and take it apart but that means it will take longer for you to learn to play and it did play quite well. If you need any hex rod I have loads of it here just let me know how many and what length you want and I will send it over, also I have made some more Emmons type levers like the one I fitted on the guitar if you want some?

Thanks for your kind offer, I'll probably take some of them.
Don't worry about my learning, I told you I'll be retired in November, so I'll take it seriously from then on. In this moment I am in another war.
I really like how it sounds (Should I say she?. In Spain the PSG is male but I guess is the UK it is female) so I dismounted it all. I want to fix it completely. One of the aprons was made by a bed slat. It is curved wood, so it makes some pressure on the whole part. I'll replace it with a maple one. The endplates and the front apron are in the infirmary, taking intensive care :D . I love this. thank you John for make me have that unexpected fun. I am like a little kid waiting for the Three Wise Men.
