Knee surgery

Any help or advice please.
I had keyhole surgry done about eight years ago and I think they tidied up some bits of cartilidge and reported a bit of Arthritis.
Over the Years My knee has been(at Times)painful when doing things like cutting the grass and carrying heavy steel guitars etc.,
This past month has been quite painful.
I was at the doc this morning and He has asked Me to return in a month and to give consideration to partial or even full knee replacement.
I have no idea of the waiting time for an op but suspect it is prioritised and I will probably be at the end of the Q.
Does anyone know the recovery time for this op.Would I be playing the steel in Days,weeks or months after the knife?
At this stage I am only considering.

Two of my staff had had replacement knees, and were back at work within 8 weeks. Their jobs involve a lot of walking and they have never looked backed since having the ops.

Basil you are a pratt now and then!!

Billy turn this thing to your advantage,,,,, Learn to play the plank for a little while... you can learn all the slants and learn how to manage with less...this is a great opportunity albeit forced upon you.

I think people that started out playing a plank (and piano players) have a tremendous advantage over the rest of us for what they have already learned.........

Basil - the answer is yes unless it relates to members of the Italian army when the plastic knees are designed for going backwards!!

Ken you got that wrong...it was their tanks that had 34 reverse gears and one going forward .... in case anyone snuck up from behind

Thanks for all the SUPPORT Gents.
The surgery is not immenent.I still have to decide If I want to have it done and also the NHS waiting list will probably be about five years long.
Basil made a good point about ear training which has inspired Me to start another thread.
Please look out for it and give Your views.
