North East Steelies Meeting

Postby nevada150 » Fri Dec 28, 2018 9:24 am

The next meeting of the North East Steelies will be held on Sunday 10th February at The Buck Inn in Thornton Watlass.
The meeting will commence at 12:00 noon and as well as our regular attendees, we extend a warm welcome to new faces.
Derek Thurlby came to our last meeting and enjoyed it, so why don't you come along and see what you think? It's a friendly group and egos are not allowed!
We are a mixture of Pedal Steel and Lap Steel players and the Round Robin tunes for February are :
Harbour Lights in (D)
Send Me The Pillow in (A)
If you don't have backing tracks yet, contact me (Keith) and I'll send them out to you.
Finally as Nick Bidmade has told you numerous times, the best Burgers in Yorkshire are available at The Buck Inn.

Just a reminder that our next meeting will be held on 10th February.
Hopefully the weather will be kind to us, but if it takes a turn for the worse we'll cancel the meeting in time so that attendees don't make wasted journeys.
Tony could perhaps give a judgement call, maybe by Friday 8th. Fingers crossed.

Yesterday's meeting included all of our regular attendees, namely: Rosemary and Rod King, Derek Evans, Tony Russell Davis, John Stafford and your's truly.
Everyone joined in with the 2 Round Robin tunes and gave their interpretations of the tunes, which were well received.
Then it was the turn of individual players to showcase any new tunes they had prepared for the meeting, some nice tunes were played and enjoyed by all.
"Burger Time" came along at around 13:30, then it was a general Jam session until the meeting closed.
Looking forward to the next meeting which will probably be in April if the "Free" room is available.
A big thanks to the staff at The Buck Inn and all who attended the meeting.
Keith.

Absolutely brilliant day at Thornton Wattlass again. Glad to see Rod and Rosemary there especially after Rod got over his illness.
Also Tony played on Even after a recent fall he had recently.Hows that for Dedication? My mate Keith played some Great stuff on his lap steel .
John played well on his lap steel also .As for my self i hit a few clangers ,but it will be put right hopefully.
A Big mention to Harvey who is an ardent fan of pedal and lap steel ,and comes to our meetings .
Staff and management at the Buck Inn ,and the food Superb as usual . Look forward the the next meeting.Regards Derek
