Ernest Tubb Buddy Charleton " Half a mind"

Postby JohnDavisStringsHere » Tue Dec 04, 2018 7:12 am

Having found this clip and always loved the song and the playing I have had to revise my Idea of how the steel ride was played, look at the slants Buddy puts in there and so smooth, I regret that in the little time I spent with him I didn't get him to show me that.

What a great bluesy song and Buddy's playing is incredible :guitar:
Really brilliant post, John. Seeing Buddy Emmons up close and personal must've been amazing :guitar:

BUDDY CHARLTON was a lap/console player first, as was Buddy Emmons and many others of that era. Slants came naturally to them.
JD, where did you meet Buddy Charlton ? You do know that's not Buddy Emmons in that video don't you !

Oops

I do now. Thanks for that correction, Basil.

There's nothing like a dose of public humiliation to get you back on the straight and narrow. Only surpassed by pubic humiliation

If you read the title of my post Baz it says Buddy Charleton, I was lucky enough to have a two hour lesson with him in Billy Coopers music store Nc.

John, I know that you know, that's why my "statement" had an exclamation mark rather than a question mark.

You're lucky to have met him and all the other greats you've met in the past. I, on the other hand have met none of them with the exception of Weldon who invited me to sit in on a session and squared it with the Nashville chapter of the union.
