The ticket take up by players and supporters is going better than expected for this first event and we expect to hit our targets for ticket sales and attendees.

Now the banner is in:

Good luck with the event this coming weekend. It sounds great. Hopefully there'll be another one next year. If so, I'll get myself organised to come along, and hopefully I'll be able to play something decent by then!

Thanks for your good wishes Ruby, there will be a festival next year. SESGF2011 has exceded my hopes, the numbers attending have meant that this first fesival will break even and we have the first inklings of an organising team - sound, lighting and food. Next year will be a lot easier on my nerves.

The most gratifying aspect of this first SESGF is the wide range of styles of players attending. Can't wait to hear them all.

For your diary, SESGF 2010 will be on Saturday and Sunday 5 & 6 May 20112 (Bank Holiday weekend), it's timed to coincide with the Royal birth.

Hope to see you then.

Congratulations to the organisers of the 1st Long Ashton steel festival. Not a huge turnout but a very enjoyable event and one I am told will return next May. It was good to hear the different styles of playing. What more can one say about the playing of Mr David Hartley who gave us such superb sets along with the lovely Fran giving vocals to some of David's songs. Another sheer magic performance was from Mr Kevin Brown, such smooth playing with tones to match. A hand to all who performed during the two days. Look forward to next year. :)
