The Hagg!

Postby bob adams » Mon Sep 17, 2018 11:23 pm

This just blows me away!
The most animated the Haggard boys have been in all of the tributes I've seen!

Go Mike on the Emmons !

JD. How I would love another 'Great Barford' steel bash on this theme! As you know I can't do it right now but how great it would be to have a tribute bash to our own John Stannard featuring the Hagg! .......... How he mastered that telecaster of his !!

You are right there Bob, JD had some great 'get togethers' with top class musicians and John Stannard was a lovely guy and sorely missed. Thanks for the posting Bob. :D

Bob its a great idea and thought but we all getting older by the minute ..... I would have to send some transport out to Milton Keynes to get Ron and Margret picked up to do the door, I still have the PA etc. I am sure David H would not miss it but who can replace big John at a gig like that And who is going to do the M.Hagg bit?
Yes I could put a band together not sure if Roger Humphreys would be up for it but I know of a few others my Bulkington band would attend and there is an excellent guitarist in Milton Keynes....
BUT! who would come???? And if you were not there to video it I would not do it .....

Looking back those times were as good as it gets for a steelies meeting JMHO.

I'd most likely cancel everything else in my life to get along to a Haggard tribute evening :)

I hadn't come across John Stannard but I just checked him out on youtube. Bl :censored: ell! That's some serious Danny-Gatton-level chops! Makes me want to spend even more time with my beloved Telecaster (and it's going for a fret job on Saturday so I will be cold turkey for a week)... I'll be watching more of his stuff later on and seeing if I can copy some licks. Probably will start at 50% speed!

Keep us all posted, guys.
