D’Addario NYXL Strings

Is anyone using D’Addario NYXL strings on Pedal Steel? I know they’re a bit pricey but I’m led to understand they last longer and are almost unbreakable.

The reason I use S.I.T. is, I figure if they were good enough for Emmons.........

plus you can have a .22 plain or wound for your E9th you only have to ask :)

There’s nothing wrong with SIT strings,I have been using them for years, and they last for ages as long as you whipe them down after you have been playing.

I use Cobra Coils or Live Steel strings. Both are high quality and have a longevity that is unmatched. I buy 100 sets at a time, and they last me ages. Buddy Emmons was supplied Live Steel strings by his friend Sid Hudson. FOC I would imagine. ;) D’Addario strings are pretty good, and I know a number of players who use them on pedal steel. I use D’Addarios on my lead guitars, and they have TWANG! :D

I like them & have been using them since March... no breakages yet & still sounding OK to my "cloth ears"
Yes I believe they are relatively expensive although I've not checked that out yet got my first set as a promotional freebee @ the Texas Jamboree :D. Will probably buy another set when needed.

What coincidence I was reading up on those the other day and checked the price from Strings Direct which is where I buy my Dobro D'Addario EXPJ42 strings from. The NYXL strings are £17.00 for a E9th. set, I read they outlast most other strings on the market today with nil breakage . It would be interesting to at least try a least try a set. Having said that John's S.I.T. strings are good value for money and the service offered is excellent.

How long will it take before all manufacturers vacuum pack their strings like D’Addario & Ernie Ball , this is a plus, especially for weekend warriors.

I have just been informed by SIT that quote “There may be a few stray sets floating around in the old packaging, however we are currently in the process of switching over everything to air tight sealed packs so in the near future, all of our pedal steel sets will be shipped from the factory this way.”

My Last two consignments from S.I.T have been in the new packaging, I don't keep them very long, prefer to have fresh stock straight from the factory.
Tim Pfouts The CEO is a friend as was Bob Hird Before him and before him Virgil Lay who founded the place before they were Stay in Tune they were just Lay's strings. The fact that Buddy Emmons put his name to them is good enough for me. Still don't make me sound like Emmons though.......
