MUST SEE INTERVIEW - LLOYD AND PAUL. BRILLIANT!

I asked Lloyd last September if he is back doing steel shows as he agreed to do this year's Dallas show, and he said that really he is getting too old to lug his guitar all over the place like he used to back in the 70's. It has to be remembered that Lloyd is now 80, and while I can attest that his brain is still razor sharp, he is starting to look a little frail although he does keep himself fit with regular morning jogging sessions. I doubt very much if Lloyd in particular can be persuaded to do the trek with his luggage and Sho~Bud to Ireland. Maybe if Charley Hill could be talked into bringing Lloyd over to Dublin and take the donkey work off of Lloyd it might work. I'll ask Charley to have a look at this thread and see what he thinks. He and Lloyd are very close buddies.

Paul might, but even he appears to have stopped doing Dallas which is THE steel show in the USA and probably has been for at least the last 10 years.

Last September I was invited to share a breakfast table with Lloyd and some other friends including Ronnie Miller at Music Row's Cracker Barrel in Nashville. For an hour or two it was great to be regaled with stories and information. I thought I was in heaven to be seated next to my hero and just chatting informally like old friends. We have to treasure Lloyd - I don't want to be morbid but we have to be realistic and acknowledge that he is the last of the old steel guitar legends and won't be around forever.

Fantastic Some really interesting tidbits in this, I'm just through Part 1 and now heading off to enjoy Part 2. How good is it to hear of Buddy Emmons' and Lloyd Green's generosity towards other players, I honestly believe Steel players are a breed apart. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Alan I'll be trawling through the whole collection now.

After listening to these interviews I went on a Lloyd Green spree and landed on this gem, from the Revisited album, a firm favourite of mine. How he gets so much from such a basic setup is astounding, and the tone on this What a gentleman he is, too.

Couldn't resist it Sorry for drifting from the original post, but this is such a beautiful song featuring 'the man' himself at his usual tasteful best. Just a pity that Phil Cunningham gabbed over the start of Lloyd's break.
As an aside, this melody has got Willie G stamped all over it. I wouldn't be surprised if you heard it ringing out of "The Gamble' come October
