Good stuff Frank. Tom was a one-off. One of the cleanest pickers ever with a tone to die for. He was also extremely modest.

His 'In Time' cd is a real favourite of mine.

I remember it well, chiefly for two things, Tom's outstanding tone, and my impulse buy of my ZB :D

Good to see a picture of Arthur Jory. He used to drive Sarah all the way from Exeter to my house nearly every Sunday for lessons. He was very focussed on Sarah becoming a pro steel player, even when she struggled with her lessons sometimes. If it wasn't for Arthur funding her first 5 or 6 years she probably may not have had the impetus to continue.

Is he still around?

Great photographs Frank. I was there in the 3rd row. Tom Brumley was outstanding. He certainly had a unique tone that was very solid and defined. He was very nice to me and gave me all sorts of great advice. When I asked him about his tone he said, "it's in your hands. It's the way you pick. You've got to figure out the best points on the string to pick. Pick good and solid. Move those strings".
Sonny Curtis was a revelation to me. I shall never forget his rendition of Vincent. I remember Jerry playing his Telecaster with Tom while they played Buckaroo. That was a great festival but then they were all great. Thanks Jerry.
