Lightweight Wheeled Case Recommendations


I have just purchased a brand new WBS SD10 Ultimate Steel which came with a super flight case. The trouble is that the case is very heavy due to it's solid construction, I am thinking about purchasing a lighter wheeled case to make life easier when out gigging. I would be very interested to hear from anyone who uses a wheeled type gun case or something similar that would do the job and if possible point me in the direction of the supplier. Thanks.

I use A Seirra Wheel-ezz case for my Single 12 which I believe are made by SKB. A whole lot lighter than a traditional wooden case too.

Check with John Davies I seem to recall he had a similar case available a while back. Maybe he's still got it???

I use a Protection Racket drum hardware case with some extra recon foam padding. Worked out about 120 all in and much lighter than a solid case.

I have in the past used an SKB drum trap case for a S10 and it was very snug in there but you would not get a d10 body in one of those..... my best advice is keep what you have and buy a set of fold up wheels from machine mart or home base (be careful some are flimsy made ) and refuse upstairs gigs unless they carry your gear up there and down!

The best purchase I've ever made for my Rains SD10 was buying a split case from Hatton Cases (Kevin Hatton).

Gwyndaf I had a set of Hatton split case in the past which I ordered direct from the States the were the bees knee's. I already have a separate flight for case which I intend using for the legs, rods and pedal-board, it is only the body of the guitar that I am looking to accommodate in the proposed new lightweight case.

John I gave up upstairs gigs a long time ago, I have also added wheels to cases in the past which I found was a great help. I am not looking to sell the new custom case as I want to keep the new guitar and case together.

This is what I use. Very light, very strong. It's done a load of touring and flying and it is not fussed by any of it. The guitar is very well protected. You will need to foam it out accordingly. I put the legs and pedal board inside the steel and all in it comes in at just under 25kg. The guitar is an LDG

I have the same case as Matt Park in my arsenal, except that it is a light tan colour. They really are tough cases, and the fact that it is wheeled and pad-lockable is a real bonus. Well fitting foam is the order of the day.
