What tuning are you using? Any bar slants?

Working on it. Should be ready Tuesday. Will post here if I can. I have kept it all straight bar so single and double notes. :D In the meantime see what you can pick out. 5th 10th and 12th frets. First 5 notes of the melody are on the 5th fret. :o

Hi Mick
That's great, thank you for taking the time and effort for doing that,it's appreciated!
I'll be having a go at it in a while, and will let you know how I get on,but I've noticed that on the 8th bar,it's standard guitar tuning?(ie not C6th)is that a typo?

Sorry mate - missed that. Yes it is a typo. The tab comes up in that tuning and I have to change it. Failed on that one.

You will see in some places I have included a harmony, but in the bridge for example I have not. See once you have got it sussed if you can add a harmony at this point. Most of the time it will be 2 strings lower, but if it does not fit for a note resort to a single note. I have had a go myself using slants but as you say it may be a bit much at this point in time. Take it one passage at a time. I have not used bars, only separated phrases so don't try counting beats. Once you hear the notes it should start to fall in to place as you already know the tune and can hum it. Also you will hear that in some places the backing goes to the F chord but I have stayed in the Bb and C area. Thats because some notes can be found in two places. Once you get to grips with this you should find it a bit easier trying to sus out your own melodies as its mostly based around where the chords are.

Repetition is the key to practice. Keep going over the same phrase time after time until your hands start to do it on their own, and it will happen. Then move on to the next bar, then link them. One stage at a time. Don't try to learn the whole song all at once.

Best of luck. Meanwhile I am going back to some Buddy Emmons. Have worked out Rose Coloured Glasses for C6 with some lovely bar slants. Oooooh :o :D

Thanks for all of that Mick, you expain it well.
I'm restarting my music lessons later this month, and I'll get my tutor to go through the tab with me,I doubt if he knows the tune, but I've got it on my phone so can let him have a listen.Incidentally,do you use some software to write the tabs?If so,which program?
I last saw Buddy Emmons in the 1980s when he was on tour with the Everly Brothers..what a lineup that was..including Albert Lee..along with Duane Eddy on the same bill!
I'll stick at the tab thanks until I get the hang of it.
