Well played Mick , and a very nice tone . I remember hearing Buddy playing this live , it was from an album he’d just brought out called Expedition E9 and the whole album was , in his words , getting C6 sounds from an E9 tuning. I also plainly remember Gerry Hogan standing next to Buddy , and was in absolute awe when he played that fast lick.
Anyway Mick , I think your comment about not being a musician is totally incorrect, your playing shows a fine degree of musicianship. I know several top class musicians who can’t read and I know a lot of bad musicians who can. All I will say is , in my experience, being able to read music helps you communicate easier with other musicians who can read but don’t let that hamper you in your great playing.
Now , I’m going to stir up a wasp nest, why is it that guitarists want to sound like Steel Players and vice versa. And a lap steel is never going to replicate a Pedal Steel in my ears , each instrument has its own unique character. Anyway must get back to my Ukulele and get some Hammond Organ sounds out of it.
