Ivor Greenwood from Northern Ireland

Postby Ken Byng » Mon Oct 30, 2017 12:59 pm

My old mate Ivor Greenwood just text me and sent me a clip of his latest crash. For those who don't know Ivor, his main hobbies are motor racing and playing the steel guitar. 99% of his time is spent on his cars, and 1% spent on practising on his MSA's. He reckons that Malcolm McMiser should have an afternoon driving around a track with him! Seriously, this shows the dangers of track day racing.

Hi Ken, yes Ivor told me the other week in Ireland that he would email his crash video to you.
How he walked away from that only heaven knows. I asked him how he felt and he replied OK a little stiff
He has to be certainly one of Ireland's characters.

Ivor makes me laugh when he talks to established constructors and players about what constitutes great steel guitar tone!

I don't think that he has too many bones in his body that he hasn't previously broken. I was at his superb home one time trying to teach him something on E9th. He couldn't pick one of the strings properly, and I couldn't make out why. He held up his right hand, and the tip of his index finger was at 45 degrees as a result of one of his car crashes.

He is one of the most natural funny people that I have met in his life. I did make him laugh once though when he was driving Ted Nesbitt and I to a steakhouse in Texas. I told him a joke and he swerved the car as he was laughing so much. That was the last time I did that, and now I wait until he is sitting down at a dining table. :D :D :o

Spoke to Ivor the Driver today, the video clip is from 8th Oct at Knockhill. The stupid old codger did the same thing about a year ago at the same track, as the saying goes “ there is a serious want wae him” walked away from both with no broken bones.I speak from experience from driving about Dallas with Ted and Ivor at wheel. :o :o  Time you retired Ivor and give all the youngsters you keep beating a chance, we don’t want to see you come to a sticky end, we all like you too much.By the way Ken is right he is a superb engineer, building all his own race engines and units for a lot of other drivers. :D
MSA Millennium SD1O, GK MB200,Sica 12 and Telonics 15 speakers , Joyo American Sound pre amp, Jay Ganz Straight Ahead 500w class D Amp, Hilton pedal, Peterson tuners,Digitech RP150,Scott Dixon seat/ flight case.
