SSGW 24th OCTOBER 5th ANNIVERSARY

For the SSGW this is the 5th anniversary, a landmark, wouldn't it be really great if some of the guys who helped us start this project, and for whatever reason couldn't continue. could show up on the night to help us celebrate, would there be enough room for all the guitars ? Over the last 2 months with Manny Ditchells help we been been playing along with backing tracks with vocals, instead of playing tunes,putting the instrument where it normally sits, backing, we have had some interesting interpretations. This months toons are:

I don't know the keys yet, perhaps Mr Mitchell would be kind enough to offer up the info.

Manny tells me the keys are, Adalida in B and Blue Eyes Cryin In The Rain in E, and he asks that the goys don't go all meshugganuh on the tunes.

Danny,
thinking you had been on the "sauce" during your last post and having led a "sheltered" life, I had to look up the meaning of meshugganuh and the Google answers were "a Yiddish word that Jews use meaning crazy, secondly a strange eccentric or irresponsible person who gives money to anyone who asks for it ,or finally a mad or idiotic person!
I've met daft people and idiots, but I'm still looking for the ones who give money away
At meetings in Gartcosh no obvious candidates for the above have come to mind so I can assume that common sense and "don't go daft on it" are the real meanings behind your post
Just being able to play along with the backing tracks is enough of a challenge for me I'll leave the meshugganuh to others

Thanks guys, messrs Mckillop, Sutherland and Sharp were all on good form ( remind me to tell you about the "seatbelt incident" ) it was a fantastic festival and lots of very happy memories, unfortunately it is all over too soon.

Just this minute in from the 5th anniversary of the SSGW, it was a great night aside from the absence of Donny, who phoned me at tea time tonight to say that he would have to give it a miss this month due to him being absolutely knackered.
When I arrived Danny was in a flap because he had misplaced his mobility phone and had to beat a hasty retreat to find it.
Some great playing and a whole shed load of fun was had by all
I hope you feel better Donny after a night in the arms of Morpheus, you will have to start listening to your battered old body my friend.

Yip!! shame you weren't up to it Mr Johnston you were missed as was Mr Mitchell ...it was a full little night with some really nice playing from everybody, I enjoyed the sights and sounds from our far travelled brothers Calum and Geoff and also enjoyed my little seat at the wheel of that LDG Calum it is playing very smoothly! Your attention to detail has paid off handsomely! Davie, Tommy and Robert fair belted it out as did Brendan on what were some challenging tunes, good also to have the McKillop join us half way through, nice playing from you on the Mullen, that's a sweet guitar!

As for the Gamble and I we battered out a few licks and harmonies off each other in our inimitable fashion ... sounded ok from where I was sitting just hope the others thought likewise!

Attention Messrs Craig, Sharp and Sutherland ....... if you don't get your picks on soon there are going to be forfeits to pay!


My 'Old Boy's baby sitter was a star tonight and says she will do her very best to be there for me to accommodate our future 'Gartcosh Nights'
No worries on the dimenia craic Willie, if we don't laugh we will cry! Life needs all the humour it can get!

Another very enjoyable night with the brothers! Very glad I got there! Such a shame that couple of my VIPs didn't make it!

Lively night, very enjoyable. Hope your feeling better Donny, you were missed, hope you're recovered for next month. Good you found yer phone Danny, we've all been there mate, pity you missed the evening though, was looking forward to hearing you play

Some good playing going on last night, always interesting and thought provoking stuff from Willie and Bob, good to hear Tommy and Billy playing, obviously a lot of experience going on there, different approaches and styles which is great for us learners to hear, and some nice playing from Davie, Robert, Brendan and Calum, can hear improvement every month.

All in all another good night @ Gartcosh, looking forward to next month
