Pedal Steel App

Postby Danny Mitchell » Fri Jul 07, 2017 9:43 am

Great little app from one Mike B. Hill. 'Pedal Steel'. This is the blurb.....

Pedal Steel is a pedal steel fretboard analysis tool. First create custom copedents to match your pedal steel guitar. Then use the analysis tools to gain insight into the fretboard.

The Analysis tool allows you to select a key, fret and active changers. You can then view and hear all of the basic chord voicings for the selected key. The analysis diagram is interactive allowing you to turn changers on and off to quickly see the effect of each changer.

The Chord Finder tool allows you to select a key, a root note and a chord type and gives you a list of chord voicing options for how the chord can be played. Click a chord voicing option to view and hear the chord voicing.

The Copedent tool allows you to view a copedent diagram. You can also edit your changes directly from the diagram.

Images can be saved to the gallery for future reference.

Hi Richard
I got it from Google Play for £4.59. It's an android phone and the app works well. Hope this helps.

Donny
Not fully up to date on technical jargon, but I think it's meant to be an abbreviation for apprenticeship, which used to be indentured and last at least five years.
In the case of learning pedal steel the original " app " is rather longer and experienced tradesmen that are able to teach any "young and upcoming apprentice's" are in a minority, perhaps this will explain a modern approach to learning!
Hope this useless information helps you in your approach to modern technology. :guitar: :guitar:

Danny
Being a technicological "guru", can yea find me yin fur a plank?

It's short for application, Lord Donald. And, going forward, I reckon it's high time you got down with us hipsters and our switched on lingo. C'mon daddio, don't be a square

My dear Robert, am I to assume you are proffering a barter, using your Greenock rhyming slang, involving the type of activity that led to Charlie Sim being sent down for dishing out said 'planks' in the environs of the St Vincent Street gentleman's public convenience? Heaven forfend, I feel I must decline.

A wee update on this app. It now has a 'training' facility. In the form of a test that requires you to identify the note on a visual representation of the neck.
Ideal for those quiet moments, spent in the doctor's waiting room, waiting for your pile assessment.
