Playing an intro

Probably the best way to play an intro is to play or get near to the melody of the last line of the song.
Does anyone have the same problem as me? When a Lesser known song is thrown at You Do You find it difficult to speedily recall the last line,It is usually easy to remember the first line!!!

The last line of 'Scotland The Brave' Billy... any meter any speed ..... fits the bill like 'One Size' tights... Don't ask me how I know that !
