My last Basic E9th help for beginners

I was not going to do any more of these as my knowledge of music is so limited I don't feel qualified to help others but the response from my first help video has been so nice, I thought I would have one last go........
If the chord sequence intrigues you you can find the first 4 easily on the 5th fret .... it gets a bit more tricky when you get to the G chord

John, please let me add my thanks for your latest lesson. To a home player who does not dedicate regular "seat time" I find that reviewing your "Basic Help Lessons" does eventually help it stick to the Barn Door. Although I'm never going to feature at such sessions as the ISGF, by my standards I have come on in leaps and bounds, thanks to the likes of yourself and people like Slimbo. Once again many thanks.

I do (kind of) understand music theory, could (but have forgotten how to) read the dots and have a pretty good ear.
What John does, I think, is equally as good as any of the 'experts' - especially for those who don't understand musical theory.

I always enjoy your videos and always pick up a new trick or two.
I hope it's not really your last one though. There are plenty of places we can go to learn the theory if we want to but there's always a place for someone who is prepared to share some of the licks they've worked out.
It can often be very useful to know the chord sequence of a song when working out what to play, of course, but, if I had to choose, I'd rather listen to (or be) someone who knows hardly any theory but can really play rather than the other way round.
You always explain clearly exactly what you're doing and if I can play something after watching one of your videos that I couldn't play before, that qualifies you as a teacher in anyone's book.
Please keep 'em coming.

Thank you, John. The chord sequence in Hotel California lends itself particularly well to zooming up the neck grabbing different inversions of the same chord, for each of the chords in turn. The chords seem to me to sit together in pairs.

If you do the "I love you big horse" thing to the F#, the E, the D and the F# it sounds great. Even better if you can do a picking pattern on the strings, going 4,5,6 in turn a few times on the first chord of each pair then move to the second chord and "zoom up".

The full sequence is Bm, F#, A, E, G, D, Em, F# ( that minor chord at fret 3 is Em)
