Fender Decals

Postby Donny Johnston » Thu Aug 25, 2016 6:54 am

I have a 50s Fender lap steel needs a refurb but I can't locate the Fender Fullerton California decal. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful. Donny.

Thanks John, it''s not the metal plate, I think it must be the other one, can you put a picture of it here, if it's the right one, I'll have it. Ken, thanks for the info, if Johns is not the right one I''ll give it a try. Donny

That's very close John, underneath the Fender logo it has, Fullerton California. Can you tell me what size it is, the one on the guitar is approx 2 1/4" x 1 1/8 " that's two & quarter x one & one eighth. some of the decal has been rubbed off, if the one you have is about that size I will take it, if you have one of the other ones I would prefer that, sorry to muck you about. Thanks John. Donny.

Donny the one I have is 145mm long (about 5 and a half inches long) and about 60mm 2 and 3/8" wide
Some of the Fenders had the writing under the logo and some did'nt mine has the advantage of being free if you want it :)

John, thanks for the info but the one you have is far to big so I will leave it with you, hopefully someone else can use it. I will try the site Ken mentioned. You're a star, Thanks John.

Steel Guitars of nashville used to sell the big decals that go on the front of Stringasters and similar but once Bobbe Seymour passed away, the new people seemed to stop carrying them.

The one you are looking for is this one, I think. Since they were only ever used on the steels, it would be pretty rare to find an original, unused, one somewhere (and if you did it would probably not be usable any more). There are plenty of people, I am told, that make fake Fender decals and maybe one of those guys could be persuaded to make one with the added text. It's about the only way you'll get one but, of course, since it infringes the copyright of FMI and their lawyers are very touchy about that sort of thing I wouldn't recommend or encourage you to do this.

They are pretty much the same as the ones you'd get on a Strat or a Tele (but they don't have the Fullerton text).
