i think you will probably find the 'AU REVOIR' is in regard to Basil having a bit of a spat with admin re posting of certain you tube videos, i dont know the ins and outs of this spat, but i think Basil is feeling very peeved, as quite a few of us have posted you tube material and not been taken to task over it, and if im right, and Basil has said au revoir to the forum, all i can say is he will be a massive loss, i have posted stuff in order to share material, as have others for the same reason, so i think we may all be entitled to an explanation as to what we can and cant do,

OK! Explanatory facts!

Much has passed between Basil and the administration of the site, his post with copious amounts of downloadable content (not you tube) was merely placed in another section of the forum it was not deleted only put on hold until it could be established if it had the appropriate ‘legal consent’ The matter could have been dealt with privately and ‘Immediately’ Which of course is normal procedure now!
I have much respect for Basil’s knowledge and zeal for his genre but this forum is not the place for conflict, there is simply not enough hours in the day for it. Healthy banter yes, gloves off! Sorry this ain’t the platform. We have a cracking bunch of guys amongst the steel community here (Basil included) ‘I believe second to none’ and this forum is providing a catalyst between us all which is exactly what it was set up to do. However if there is any content uploaded or linked to that implicates the site, it is not the poster that the blue light flashes on it is the administrators of the site, it is really that simple, forums are public, on servers that are policed, if the question mark is sufficient they close you down and come knock on the door, not an acceptable proposition. What happened here was simply a ‘duty of care’ to the site but was seen to be something different, it never was nor will be. Paul / Eddie we have to keep ourselves safe where the legality of copyright etc. is concerned. This entire episode was no more nor less than that and could so have been avoided.

I have written the above only because I have much time for you guys Paul/ Eddie & Basil but we have done our very best on this and don’t need further endless debate on it so I would appreciate us drawing a line under it, like you chaps I will be more than delighted if Basil jumps back on again. Any other thoughts pm us anytime!

Although the subject of YouTube videos was raised, this wasn't the crux of the issue.

i think we may all be entitled to an explanation as to what we can and cant do

For the record: -

1. Posting YouTube videos here is fine. If not already covered by their agreement with the PRS, any copyright issues for videos posted on YouTube are reported directly to YouTube and since the material is hosted on their servers it is their responsibility to take down any reported infringements.
   
2. For anything else (audio, tablature etc.), it is assumed you either own the copyright or have permission from the copyright holder to post it here. If we (BSS forum admins) are made aware of any copyright infringement by the copyright holder of any posted content we will take it down immediately.

Bob and Marc, thanks for that explanation, and im happy that i can continue to post and view other peoples you tube contributions, i hope the spat is resolved and we can get Basil back on, he's a helluva asset to us,
