Youtube's amazing, gems like this one from Sarah, episodes of said Mr Hill, even The Lone Ranger Though that is sad to hear about Benny's headstone.

Yes Danny - I watch a lot of You Tube on the big screen at home. Not so much the Lone Rangers, but The Range Rider - my favourite western to watch an TV when I was a kid in the 50's. Mike Johnson told me a few weeks ago that he watches a whole load of clips on You Tube, and loves watch classic steel players like Emmons and Chalker. I told him that I watch a load of the Country Family Reunion DVDs, and clips on You Tube to nick some of his licks. He thought that was funny.

The teaching of Sarah Jory seems so long ago now. She used to lift up my daughter when Hayley was a todler, and my daughter is now 36. Sarah now looks like her mum Yvonne did all those years ago. I always felt that Sarah's dad Arthur pushed her a bit too much, and certainly he was the driving force in that situation. He gave up a lot to help her career, and was extremely proud of her progress when I saw them in the early years. I haven't seen Sarah for 25 years or so, when we were both playing on the same show. We shared an instrumental number together which was nice. She contacted me recently on Linked In and asked me how I am. I don't think she does computers very much these days. I have been able to keep up with her progress on You Tube. She was a real novelty act when she was 12 or 13. A young steel player and a girl to boot. The Americans loved her. I have lost count on the number of Americans over the years who have asked if I know her. I just quietly say yes and leave it at that.

I once told Paul Franklin that I had taught Sarah, and he said "Oh - you're to blame for that then!". I thought that was quite funny.

Wow! The Range Rider! Jock Mahoney & Dick West, the all American boy. I loved that program, too. In fact, I could sprint down the lobby (pronounced, loabay), slide on the lino, leapfrog on to my pinto pony (the bed setee) and pursue the bad guys, guns blazing! Before being forcefully dismounted by a clip round the earhole. Happy days.
And re your teaching a young Sarah Jory, it's hard to imagine a child having the determination to stick with such a demanding instrument. The first time I saw her was when she was touring with Van Morrison.

I remember reading that Lloyd Green did the steel work on the Benny Hill Shows. He reckoned it was his pension taken care of, with all the repeats.

Good grief, that must've been a strange gig for Lloyd Green!
I'd like to imagine that he got residuals from the show, but in my experience, session players, even the top of the tree, like Lloyd, just cop a fee for the session.

The sound tracks were Lloyd Green, he was never on camera, so whomever you "saw" had nothing to do with the sound track. Lloyd did four songs with Henery Strizlecky, Bob Moore, and the Nashville "A" team. Lloyd emailed me about seeing this thread and gave me the names of all the players, which I don't remember , and I'm not at my own computer at the moment or I'd post them.
I have known this for over 25 years. The tracks were sped up to add to the comedic effect. "Yakity Axe" was one that was used the most and Lloyd was paid and is still getting paid for these tracks being played.
