Nowt wrong with Benny Hill Danny. He was a Southampton boy, and very often would be seen walking around the Shirley area of the city (where he had a flat) with shopping bags in each hand.

The Yanks love him and his shows were very popular in the USA in the 1980's. My missus and I once gave a box set of DVDs of Benny's shows to Bobbe Seymour as a present after he told me that he was a fan. You'd have thought that we'd given him the Crown Jewels.

Sarah sure does a great job. :D

Didn't he carry all his cash in a carrier bag Ken, I think I remember reading that somewhere.

I don't think so Ron. I only ever saw him the once, when I was shopping with my parents who were down with us for the day. My mother spotted him as he walked toward us and he had 2 Co-op bags full of provisions. He was a bit embarrassed that he had been recognised, and walked past quickly with his head pointing down. The sad part is that his headstone was vandalised in Southampton Cemetery by mindless morons a few years ago. it was smashed to pieces. There are lunatics out there who cannot be called human beings.

In 1975 I did some work for a guy called Royston Mayoh who knew Benny through his work as a TV producer and director. Mayoh reckoned that Benny was nothing like his on-screen persona, and was a real introverted character off screen.

Sorry to meander away from your topic Danny.

Billy, Ken is also too embarrassed to tell you that on day he met Benny, he too was carrying all his money in two much larger bags than Benny, :o , (this was in days before he was a financial advisor to Bank of England) , that was reason Benny put head down and ran past, he thought he was richest man in Southampton, only to be foiled by Kenny " the richest fastest Steelie in the west".
You are indeed correct about teaching Sarah, and many other Steelies down in Englandshire, not much the old boy doesn't know regards steel. :guitar: :guitar:

He certainly did Billy and kick started what we hear today. He also gave inspiration to hundreds of other steelies over the years, myself included.
Always been a fan of Sarah and more so a fan of Ken.

Nice one Ken, you brought on a good one there :guitar:

Youtube's amazing, gems like this one from Sarah, episodes of said Mr Hill, even The Lone Ranger  Though that is sad to hear about Benny's headstone.
