I know what you mean John. I'm a great fan of Bobby Blacks playing but the singer wants it in G.
More or less got it sussed. Sort of!

Can't the Bobby Black stuff be played in G then? (To be honest, I couldn't play it in any key yet).

My favourite version is Buddy Cage with NRPS (which by an amazing co-incidence, I can't play either!)

Very nice John, thanks for the post. I could never have worked out that counterpointy bit, boggling! And the high lonesome stuff's braw to me.

This thread's been quiet for a while, so here's my two penn'orth to bring it up again.

From "Don't come crying to me when it's over" - Vince Gill, with (I am guessing from the phrasing) Paul Franklin on steel. YouTube URL:

In the steel solo at 1:50, just after it goes through D to G, en route back to C, there's a neat descending lick from G (the V chord) to C (the I chord). I think it goes like this, although I am not 100% sure about the last note but one:

Bar:...............(gliss)................................(gliss).....(I have to put the dots in, the editor won't allow spaces.)
3: ------10b-----9b-----8b------8------7------6------4------3-----------------
4: ------10------9e------8e-----8e-----7e----6e-----4f-----3-----------------
5: ------10a-----9-------8-------8------7------6------4a-----3-----------------
Chords:.G..............G7......Em..........Dm.....F......G

Labelling of knee levers: f = "raise E's", e = "lower E's", a & b are standard for raising 5/10 and 3/6 respectively.
Any thoughts, anyone?

It is a bit worrying that these posts are never answered. I guess members aren't interested in trying new things, or maybe it's me. I won't bother posting anything further on this thread, and am beginning to wonder about posting anything at all. John Davis complains about apathy, with good reason I think.

Will, please continue posting. I always enjoy reading them and try to respond, if I have something to say. In this case, I'm afraid it's lost on me....my name is Danny, and I'm a Tablexic!
Whenever I look at tab a bear appears, in my mind's eye, riding on a tricycle, accompanied by the circus tune. A La Homer Simpson.

Thanks Danny, I'll take any replies - especially funnies. But tab is easier to read than "fly sh*t" - sorry, music notation.
