Having that extra step up transformer is a really good move. I was on a gig one evening when I started to get a lot of banging and popping coming out of my amp when I was playing. I had to stop and wait for the break. After going through each component of my rig I realised that it was my Hilton volume pedal causing the problem. I carry a spare pot pedal (Fender) in my car and as soon as I plugged it in the problem was cured. I checked the Hilton out at home through a new transformer and it worked perfectly. So there is a moral there somewhere. I am unlikely to get this problem with my Telonics pedal as it is powered from a voltage output socket on the from of my amp.

I like the fact that my pot pedals are no longer redundant with the advent of the new Goodrich Hot Potz.

No problem Tony, just pointing out the cost effectiveness of the Hilton.

Hi everybody ! Interesting this pot business, Owen Bradley the best in every body's mind. I don't know why they went down but I found the company that bought the last stock. Tried to buy 50 myself gradually dropping the quantity requested. Ended up getting their last 8 pots, they were not cheap but Bradley's.I will dig them out and the invoice.

Got to say I'm falling out of love with my Hot Potz. The ratio changes as you near full volume and thus the sensitivity increases. It seems to make a small movement have a big effect on the volume. I dunno - maybe it's me..... I'm guessing that this could be why Jim Palenscar had them redesigned. Trouble is the price of his ones would be at least £60 each, if not quite a bit more by the time it gets here.
It may well be that he is trying to recoup the cost of new tooling, but it puts them at a level that most players wouldn't pay.

Any other opinions, seeing as things are a bit quiet on here?

Buy a Hilton and save yourself money. My mate Willie Gamble has been using my old spare Goodrich with a Dunlop pot fitted for over a year now, he has absolutely no complaints with it.Other alternative is to get some one who is going to states to pick up a pot for you, cheaper than here, no shipping , no import duties.

No it's not just you Tony. I don't like the taper of the original Hot Potz either, and the Palenscar modded pot will be a definite improvement. The pound exchange rate against the US dollar is killing any purchases of items from the States at the moment. While I was a 'Leaver' in the referendum I will have to wait until the exchange rate picks up a bit before buying anything else from America. Bit of a bummer. :(

Having said that, Eric Snowball used to charge £15.00 each for AB pots back in the 70's, and that was a load of money back then.

I tested differents pots with my own passive pedals , the best is the Dunlop HotPotz 470K while the PEC (short durability) has a better response in bass frequencies in low volume.

When I use active pedal I prefer to play with the ARTEC VPL1 (magnetic sensor) https://www.thomann.de/gb/artec_vpl_1.htm. I find it more precise and easier to adjust (off point, effect volum) than the Hilton (IR sensor).

I use a Hilton as well, I got fed up with soldering pots.
I dont know if it's my imagination but I liked the tone of the pot pedals better? all in my head? :?

Henry, I would be inclined to agree with you, I have a Hilton, but I wish I had kept my Goodrich also, I would like to be able to compare them side by side.
