Where are all the Lap Steelers?

Postby WineRider » Sun Oct 18, 2015 2:20 pm

It has been several weeks since I put finger to keyboard and I am baffled why there are so few new posts. In the past many have had their say on the Forum, but of late it looks like there is a dearth of either news or questions being asked or answered. I have read on the Steel Guitar Network, that the great man of steel guitar DeWitt 'Scotty' Scott has passed away and yet today I have logged in and found not a mention on the site...something is amiss.

Well if there is anyone out there...Knock Three Times for Yes or Twice for No!

Knock, Knock Knock!!
Maurice, if you search you will find reference to Scotty's passing. I personally don't post on the site as much as I did, but there are still some good, interesting topics on here.

Hi Ken I fully understand, but things never change. I have spoken with Uncle Roy and voiced my opinions in private...he fully understands where I'm coming from.

Arcada thank you for your response, but if we have a 'News' listing it is where obits should be headlined and then transfered to 'Extended Family' just as three obits are still resiuding in News, when in fact they are not news they are old news. Or if we are really being pedantic why not have a seperate heading Obits?

It still doesn't answer my first question though of where have all the lap steelers gone. The lap steel section still carries one of my ^post's whicg revolved around the usual suspect making nit picking and non constructive comments about a fellow picker. No one has been making any comments or observations since that date. AGAIN I ASK THE QUESTION WHER ARE ALL THE LAP STEELERS? or am I to deduce that this site like many others in really only interested in PSG's.

Maurice, take a look at the welcome new members section there is a new thread from a lap beginner maybe you could add your penny worth there. Regarding picks.

Hi Maurice,
I agree with your sentiments to a degree. Like you I'm a Lap Steel player and find that the majority of posts are from PSG players. However, in reality there are more PSG players than "plank spankers" on the Forum. I can put up with that and I also enjoy reading their posts.
It's the same situation on the American Forum, but they seem to have a lot more plank players and a WHOLE lot more PSG players.
I attend the meetings of the North East Steelers and I'm the sole plank player at the moment.
Guess we'll have to live with it for now.
Regards,
Keith.

I've been checking out this forum regularly and true there are no NEW posts.

I'm guessing everyone is using the US steel forum cause that's busier.

I would love for us to build up a solid UK community. Kind of hard when communication comes and goes. :x
