Anyone recognise this lady?

Postby alan cannell » Tue Jul 21, 2015 7:20 pm

Found this photo on a C6 and Hawaiian Steel website and this lady looks like Cindy who was a member of a Suffolk band called The Royal Hawaiians.
I played guitar in this band and wondered if anybody can remember her and is this her photo?

Like the Carlsberg advert - probably the best looking steel player in the country. I couldn't care less if she can't play a note. They don't make 'em like that anymore. :o

I should know her name I done an article on her some years back, will have to look through back numbers of our newsletter. In the meantime I bet Baz H would know.

Now then Ken , stop looking at the smile rather than the Steel...... More info, in case it jogs someone's memory, I think she was with Felix Mendelssohn as a dancer. But she did play Lap Steel quite well later on , as I remember.

The photo looks very '50's. If my old friend Kealoha Life was still around he would know immediately. He was with Felix Mendelssohn for years. I have some of Life's memorabilia somewhere, but don't recall seeing this young lady among it. She's probably older than me now. Isn't aging a b :censored: d!!

Also if she is as I believe Cynthia, Ken she passed a few years ago, for those interested, she I believe is the lady who
winks in one of the Pathe Felix Mendelssohn video's that are currently available now on You Tube, it's worth a visit if only to
see Roland Peachey( Piche) playing "Song of the Islands".

Yes , it is Cynthia and liked to to be called Cindy . She fronted a band known as the Royal Hawaiians in the Ipswich area playing Steel and dancing .
She had a very likeable personality and I am sorry hear her passing.
