My F lever broke......help wanted

Postby rogerp1 » Sun Aug 16, 2015 10:54 am

Hi All,
My F lever broke last night with a huge twang, The stop had come off the end of the rod, I managed to fix it this morning but have a few questions.
I appear to be missing a spring(see pic) does anyone know where I can get a replacement? Its off a sho bud changer.
Found a small round thing on the floor that I cant identify(see bottom pic) had a good look around the guitar but I can't see anything that looks like it to give me a clue.
The wotsit thingy in the middle pic that the two rods connect to to raise my E strings can easily be pulled off the end of the axle. I tried a few ways of putting it back on but this is the only way that works(this is the bit that fell off after the rod stop had fallen off!) Can anyone see anything that should hold this on? maybe it had a circlip thats pinged off somewhere.
The guitar now plays Ok but I'm worried about the thingy falling off the axle while I'm playing and the missing spring

The 'missing' spring is a helper, and has probably never been fitted

There should be a grub screw on the bellcrank, which will need tightening.

no grubscrew it is a free floating Emmons bellcrank used to achieve the reverse pull

My mistake, I should have realised that the bellcrank was pivoting around the shaft. not connected to it

It never came off the shaft when I owned it but if it was a cause for concern you could drill the shaft end and screw a stop into it, I think the rods connected to it keep it in check...

Yeah I did think about screwing a stop in but I'll try a spring clip first....it probably only came off the shaft when the stop fell off. its been allright since Ive got it and its been played everyday :)
