Hello and advice sought

Postby drewsherlock » Thu Jan 06, 2011 8:42 pm

Hi folks,

Just thought I'd say hello and ask for some advice.

I'm not a musical novice (play the mandolin and piano reasonably), but I love the sound of the PSG and want to take it up.

Where should I look for a beginner's instrument? The budget's fairly tight (at least until I can convince my wife I'm serious!). I've seen a few for sale on Ebay over the last couple of months but I'm nervous about parting with several hundred quid without knowing what I should look out for.

I'm based in Edinburgh, but do travel around the UK a fair bit with work.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Andy

Hallo Andy and welcome to the mad house !
You'll get plenty of help and assistance from the guys here, your best bet is to contact fellow Scotsman,
Bob Adams who lives in Glasgow, he renovates and repairs just about any steel there is, he'll put you on the right track
if you want to turn your hand to pedal steel.
All the best

Hi again.

Thanks for the comments, folks. I'll contact Bob for some advice....though I'm not so sure about trusting a weegie ;)

Cheers,
Andy

Hey Drew. You can trust Bob Adams with anything to do with Pedal Steel. Except knee levers, that is. Seen here trying to nick a couple for another project???? Regards Graham
