I have noticed my Tone bar has a few notches in, which is catching strings when i move "vertically"

Do people sand their tone bars?

I would guess that You have a "soft" metal tone bar.
I have never heard of anyone sanding down a bar, polishing perhaps is all that should be required.
I would suggest investing in a B.J.S. bar which has a hard chrome finish, they last for ever..
Best regards

Attempt at figuring out the solo by Wayne Bridge on the Dylan LeBlanc song "Low". The high part doesnt sound completely correct, i know that its a chord, but cannay find it.

Amplifiers....

so i've never really been an electric guitarist, so my amplifier hasnt progressed from the Fender 20 Watt, plus the reverb is nackered. Any suggestions on Amplifiers that are suitable, or even better specifically designed for steelie?

What's your budget? Any restrictions on size/weight? Gigging or home use?

Not sure about budget, maybe around 500.

Gigging eventually and home use. Needs to be fairly portable.

Try a Rowland cube80.Great sound, built in effects, lightweight, and reasonably cheap around £350.Lots of players using them.I use GK MB200 amp and Sica Neo speaker, needs outboard effects,as I remember it was around £400 by time I and my good friend Willie Gamble assembled it.It weighs in at 21lbs, giving out 200watts of power, have done all sorts of gigs with it big and small.

Blimey the steel guitar on the Nanci Griffith album: "Last of the True Believers" is amazing. Lloyd Green is the man. Some really beautiful licks in "Love at the five and dime", especially 1:17!
