string whine.

Never run into this problem befor so I don't know the answer need advice.
I have a couple of strings on my Fender 400, after picking they give me a whining sound, have changer the size of the strings, no different, have checked the roller nut's and the bridge, no grooves, turned the treble on the Fender Champion 30, and the 80x off, but no change, the pickup is about 8 mm from the strings, is the gap too big, strings are SIT.from a C6 set.

There might not be any grooves in the top of the changer finger, but there might be flat spots.
Try swapping the bad fingers around, so that they are used for the thick, wound strings, and use the best ones for the thin strings

Sim, that happened to me on my bennet, what I did is twiggle the string around a little until I found a sweet spot, there was a very very very small groove that was causing the buzz, try moving the string until you find a point where it doesn't buzz

Otherwise, what Zebedee mentions is a good idea, I also read that in th US Steel forum

Here is the reply I had from Bazil, and I'm sure he has it on the button, so when the springs arrive we can move on.
Without the springs in place the bridge units are tilted too far forward.. The radius of the top is a parabola.. They are on a knife-edge held in equilibrium by the spring tension counterbalancing the pull of the strings, and at the moment they are not in the neutral position..
