Since I retired, well got made redundant and at my age there's not much chance of getting another job, I have to find things to do as well as taking the dog for a walk and a bit of pickin', so I looked in "Box Sets" on sky and found the series called "Nashville." All 21 episodes. so I thought let's see what this is all about.
Over the next couple of weeks I watched all 21 episodes and at the end of it wondered why. At least 50% of each episode was snoggin' and shaggin' another 30% was arguments, political and musical and the rest of it was rock music. In one episode Nashville was actually referred to as Rock City.
What they called country music was certainly not what I know as Country music. You did on the rare occasion see a pedal steel but except for a couple of songs you couldn't hear it.
If this is a true reflection of Nashville these days, even if I could afford to go there I think I would pass it by and head on down to Dallas or Austin. That seems to me to be where the real country music is.
